Kenansville Cattle Company is located in the heart of cattle country in central Florida. The cattle are raised on land that has been passed down through four generations.
For the past 21 years, Kenansville Cattle Company has utilized a true three breed rotational crossbreeding system with Brahman, Hereford and Red Angus genetics. This allows for 86% individual and maternal retained heterosis or hybrid vigor in the resulting females. The herd has consistently been selected for cowherd fertility, growth, frame size and carcass quality. In 2021, additional selection pressure was placed on heifer weaning weight. Brahman bulls are Kempfer Cattle genetics based in Saint Cloud, Florida. CK Ranch genetics from Salina, Kansas is the source of Hereford bulls while Red Angus bulls are sourced from Shuler Red Angus in Bridgeport, NE. The Kenansville Cattle Company offering will be sired by Hereford bulls and Brahman bulls. Hereford sired heifers will have a genetic composition of 5/8 Hereford, 1/4 Brahman and 1/8 Red Angus. Brahman sired heifers will have a genetic composition of 5/8 Brahman, 1/4 Red Angus and 1/8 Hereford. All are bred to Shuler Red Angus bulls selected for calving ease, growth and carcass quality. These bulls are in the top 25% for calving ease and weaning weight EPD, top 40% for birth weight, yearling weight, calving ease maternal, carcass weight and marbling EPD and top 15% for REA EPD. |
